Is this the trip for you?

Over the last year I’ve fielded questions from many people about whether we’d host a trip to one of the many places we’ve traveled for Range. The answer is finally yes! Sourcing trips have truly been one of the greatest joys of my life—I’ve made wonderful connections and memories and hunted for items that now live in my home, reminding me of these journeys.

This trip is intended to do the same for you. I’m happy to share some of my favorite places and best negotiation tips as we explore the city together.

If you’ve ever wanted to explore Morocco but needed a reason to get there, let this be it. Capped at 5 rooms, this is not meant to be a large travel tour, but rather a way to meet and explore new places together. We’ll have planned activities and plenty of downtime, allowing you to opt in to the things you want to do and opt out when you need some alone time.

This trip is perfect for those who:

  • Want to explore Morocco but don’t have friends/family/a spouse with similar interest
  • Like the idea of having someone assist with logistics but don’t want a large group tour
  • Crave a break to the day-to-day grind and are seeking creative inspiration
  • Are excited to meet new people and forge deep friendships quickly
  • Want insider tips on how to locate and negotiate with local makers and vendors

FAQ

  • What airline should I fly?
    • This really depends on where you’re flying from. I find Google Flights to be really helpful in determining the lowest cost and most direct route. Personally, I like to fly TAP Portugal from IAD to RAK, with a layover in Lisbon. Flights generally cost $900-1300 round trip, but again that’s going to depend on your route and location.
  • Can I arrive early/stay late?
    • You’re absolutely welcome to extend your stay and I’m happy to work with you on the details of how to get to our accommodations when we begin on the 22nd. Most riads provide an option for transportation to/from the airport, so if it’s outside of our arrival/departure window you will be responsible for that on your own. Don’t worry though—it’s typically only $20-30.
  • Will you assign me a roommate if I want to book a shared room?
    • Shared rooms are only available if you’re booking with someone. You will be sharing a bed, so make sure it’s someone you’re super comfortable with!
  • Will you help us figure out what to bring?
    • Yes! We’ll have at least one call prior to our departure discussing what to pack, how to exchange money, and anything else to put your mind at ease prior to take off.
  • What type of weather can I expect?
    • September is considered one of the best months to visit Marrakech, with temperatures averaging 60-90 degrees. You’ll want to dip in the private pool in Marrakech, while Essaouira will provide a lovely seaside breeze and slight drop in temps.
  • I really want to buy a rug for my house. Do you think we’ll have time to do this?
    • Of course! Though it’s very likely you’ll come back with more than one. I’ll share my best tips for what you need to bring to make your shopping trip a success and how to get your purchases back to your home.
  • I’m not sure I can go this time. Will there be another trip planned?
    • While there are several trips in the works for the upcoming year, this is the only trip to Morocco planned at this time.
